Then luckily, I get to sleep in and get all my speaking done the next afternoon (wed), then “network” again all night.

On Wednesday Aug 18th, I’ll be at:

From 2:30 – 3:30

Link Building in August of 2010 with Jim Boykin
This isn’t your grandma’s link building session. Jim has been an industry leader in the area of link building for over 10 years as the founder and CEO of We Build Pages (www.webuildpages.com). Jim also won the search engine journal’s “Best Link Building Blog” in 2006 and 2007 (Jim rarely blogs anymore). Jim has seen and done it all when it comes to link building, and he knows which links effect search engine rankings, and the types of risks involved in certain types of link building. If higher search engine rankings are a major focus of yours, this is a “must attend” session. * Updated presentation for August 2010 SES.

  • Speaker:
Jim Boykin, CEO and Link Building Ninja, We Build Pages Internet Marketing Services
  • 5:00 – 6:00

How to Become a Link Magnet
Some people just have to sit at a keyboard and type for ten minutes. Some people spend a little time mashing up a video. And some people develop a cool tool or app. What happens next? They become link magnets.

In search marketing, where content is still king, we’ve talked about how to make your web site a link a magnet. But with social media and personal branding, developing a great presence online can turn you personally into a link magnet. Some people have. Thousands want it.

How can you develop your personal brand so that you only have to mouth an opinion and a gazillion links follow? Andy Warhol once suggested that everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame. And social media is certainly making that little prediction come true.

Find out from a panel of experts how you can have your (metaphorical) 15 minutes of fame, become a link magnet and dominate search engines.

  • Speakers:
Aaron Kahlow, Chairman & Founder, Online Marketing Summit
    Rand Fishkin, CEO, SEOmoz.org
Jim Boykin, CEO and Link Building Ninja, We Build Pages Internet Marketing Services
  • Then from 6:00- 7:00 I’ve been invited to be in on:

    Black Hat, White Hat Un-conferenced
Not just a workshop, not just a party – but a little bit of both… debate issues that matter over drinks!

    …but don’t think it’s  formal  at that one…

Then from 8:00 to 11:00 that same night,  it’s The Famous IM Charity Party!! – I’m proud that We Build Pages can help sponsor such a great idea (charity water)  that fellow marketer Shak came up with. Lauren has the Top 10 Reasons to attend this party, but do you really need more reasons other than helping charity, partying, and talking SEO all night?

I’ll then probably be heading out for Yosemite National Park and/or some other national parks for a couple of days.

Hoping to see you in San Fran!
    I’m Feeling Lucky,
    Jim

Internet Archive Wayback Machine appears to be updating!

A few days ago we started to notice some new archives from Internet Archive Wayback Machine.

From what I recall, the last dates that the wayback machine was showing for archived sites was the summer of 2008.

We’re now seeing some sites showing archived dates right up to 5 days ago.

It looks like bigger sites are starting to show newer archived dates…could this be the start of a big rollout of updated wayback information (isn’t that and oxymoron (“updated wayback information”)??

I just found a forum comment by Gordon @ IA  (Internet Archives) where he states on July 6th:

There was a very small index update last week. A result of this update is that some very-recent (as late as June 2010) content is now available, even as most content from the last 24 months awaits a bulk update.
The relevant FAQ items (and small note atop each date-results page) have been updated to reflect that this may sometimes happen.
    - Gordon @ IA

so we still have to wait for the “bulk update”… any idea when that will come? Gordon?

    ————-

Google nicely has a wayback of 5 days ago!
Google.com in the wayback machine shows (today) up to June 10, 2010.

That was the only one I could find from 2010.

But here’s some 2009 ones that I believe are new updates (think the last dates they had was summer 2008.

    Yahoo.com – Oct 27, 2009

    ask.com – Oct 27, 2009

    CNN.com – Oct 27, 2009

    apple.com – Oct 27, 2009

    digg.com – October 27, 2009

Then there the rest of us in 2008

    seobook – August 22, 2008

    seroundtable.com July23, 2008

    seomoz.org – june 29, 2008

    webuildpages.com – still April 1 2008

    Sphinn.com – May 30 2008

Been a long time Internet Archive – glad to see some updates!

One email was sent by kishwer <seo.kishwer@gmail.com>, and the other email was sent by eajaz.eajaz <eajaz.eajaz@gmail.com>

So here’s these people using a scraped version of webuildpages.com (at http://webuildpages . 50webs.com/(remove spaces on each side of the dot) to make it look like We Build Pages is doing 3 way linking! And on that scraped We Build Pages.com page, there is a link to “Web Design India” going to syrup technologies . com.

SEO Depth Company You’re evil for using my company name for your Spam! I don’t care if you spam, but don’t use  my brand.

Syrup Technologies, you’re the Only link on the copy of my homepage…and I’m guessing you’re in the same bed with SEO Depth Company.

So here’s your Karma, deal with the reputation problem I just gave you.

I hate fighting, and rarely do…but my brand reputation is at stake, and sending emails offering links on a scraped webuildpages.com is just plain evil in my eyes. If you spam, don’t do it under my company name.

SES NYC Charity Party on Wed 24th.

Next week Chuck and I will be at Search Engine Strategies (SES) in New York City (March 22-26th).

I’ll be speaking on Wednesday the 24th from 3:45 – 4:45 on “Link Building – Methods and Risk, Free to Paid”

It will be similar to the the presentation that I gave in London last month which seemed to be received pretty well.

I was looking over the party schedule last week…and it didn’t look like much of a party schedule… Bing is sponsoring a cocktail hour on Tuesday from  5:45 – 6:45 at the expo hall…and on Wednesday night from 6-7 at the Bridges Bar at the Hilton there’s the  “White Hat Black Hat: Unconferenced”…which should be interesting…if you can hear what’s being said (I’ve been to some of these “sessions” in bars, where if you’re not in the “inner circle” you can’t hear anything being said)…

and that was about it for “parties” going on… just didn’t seem right….Seems like we were missing a good ole night party…and a chance to help a charity…

So…I figured they needed another party…and hey,  we can also help a charity in the process.  Since this is pretty last minute (one week away) we’re going to keep this pretty simple… don’t even think  we’ll do drawings, or have a mic…and instead of the normal $50 to get in, we’re going to lower it to $30.

For $30 you get in, and you can drink all the Beer, Wine, or Soda that you’d like (between 8 and 10), and We Build Pages will pay for it. We’ll also have a bunch of Hors D’oeuvres for everyone. After 10:00 you have to buy your own drinks.

Every penny of everyones $30 entrance fee will be going to Common Ground, whom are based out of NYC and who’s mission is to end homelessness.

We’re limited to only 100 tickets, so this will sell out for sure. At the end of my presentation on Wed I’ll announce where you can get your tickets (we’ll hook up with someone who has an exhibit booth and sell tickets for an hour at that booth…not sure where yet)

Here’s our flyer for the Charity Party at SES NYC 2010 on Wed March 24th.

    Hurley’s
    232 W. 48th Street
    212-765-8981

The party will be upstairs. I hope to see you there!

    I’m Feeling Lucky,
    Jim

London SES: Link Building – Methods and Risks with Jim Boykin – Feb

It’s funny…I’ve been looking at a lot of internet marketing conferences for 2010….and it’s amazing the percentage of Social Media panels compared to “Organic search engine rankings” panels… it seems like 85% of all panels are “social media” related, 14 percent are ppc, analytics, usability, other marketing topics”, and 2% are “organic rankings” topics.

I noticed that at SES London (feb 16-19) and SES NYC (march 22-26) that there were few organic panels…and no link building panels…what a shame..what a shame… so… I bought a session…  for London and NYC…and my session is:

Link Building – Methods and Risks with Jim Boykin
This isn’t your grandma’s link building session. Jim has been an industry leader in the area of link building for over 10 years as the founder and CEO of We Build Pages (www.webuildpages.com). I have 1 hour…where I plan to blow the mind of everyone in attendance.  I can’t wait.

    I went to a marketing party….. (can’t stop singing).
