As somebody who didn't have access to an American TV channel at the time, it was interesting to watch people talk about it. People do that when they're in earthquakes and similar situations, or when they see something out of the ordinary going on elsewhere. A lot of the time, it helps people get their feelings out about something, especially something like a disaster or near-disaster. Probably also important to look inwards before talking too much about other people's self control on Twitter ;) Also, you know you can unfollow tweeple whose updates are boring you, don't you? Seems like bad taste in sequins does translate to MS painted background images :P haha @lisabarone
