It’s Friday. It’s time to talk Twitter!
Do you know what else today is? It’s The Day of the Ninja! I know, sweet, right? Thanks to Barry Schwartz for alerting me to this awesome find on Twitter. You’re the best, Barry.
First, I’d like to thank Ken Savage, theGypsy and Jack Leblond who jumped into action when I mentioned on Twitter that I’d like a holiday avatar. In the end, I opted to use the awesome avatar created by Ken Savage, but much appreciation to everyone who tried to make this dorky blogger smile.
Here’s the new avatar; what do you think?
I love it!
On the relevant, search-side of things:
- TheHodge pointed me to the “funny” Yahoo Live death page. He wonders if that’s a noose around Yahoo. I don’t think it is. In fact, I think it’s even scarier — it’s a gold chain. Oh, Yahoo Live. Thank you for all that you gave me. I miss you.
- Rand Fishkin helped us find two great posts worth a close read: Alone Together from New York Magazine and Andrew Sullivan’s Why I Blog. Thanks, Rand!
- Russ Page let us know that many Facebook users had found their account hacks. Ut ohs!
- Social media cutie Brian Chappell retweeted 60 Really Cool and Creative Error 404 Pages. I’m partial to the crying baby one, myself. Maybe because I am one.
- Problogger tweeted a great article from Entrepreneur.com titled Brand Makeovers: 3 Lessons in Reinvention. If you’re a company in social media or just thinking about it, this one is worth a read.
- Brent Csutoras highlighted a great post by Rabeidoh that asked, “Constant Connection Affecting your Offline Relationships“. I’m confused. What are offline relationships?
- Dominic Litten spread the news that Pounce Pownce was being shut down and that users had 2 weeks to get their content out. Not that anyone actually used Pownce. Or remembered what it was.
- My friend Adam Audette announced that the Web Style Guide is both free and awesome.
- Barry Schwartz tweeted about a recent interview he gave Mike McDonald while at PubCon. The topic was viral marketing and Barry, like the Web Style Guide, is made of pure awesome.
- Jeremy Schoemaker was one of the elite bloggers who received a $500 gift card from Kmart and he was kind enough to show us how he spent it. Check it out. It’ll definitely make you smile. (Also check it out because he was given an extra one to give out to a reader! )
And the fun stuffs:
- PITA Eddy DeMelo (hi Eddy!) tried to kill my productivity with an addicting Guess-the-Google game. Don’t you have a wedding to plan, Eddy? Stop screwing with my day!
- If you’re looking for something fun to get your favorite blogger (um, I mean me), QualityGal pointed to some Shuriken Ninja Magnets. So many levels of awesome.
- Liveblogger hater John Coronella made me a shirt to wear at January’s Affiliate Summit West. Some people think they’re leagues funnier than they truly are.
- Matt Inman gave props to a great viral marketing campaign by GetYourDrugOn.com, which I admit to wasting far too much time on.
- Rebecca Kelley linked to the most beautiful mario kart song in the world. There aren’t words for how gorgeous it is. Truly.
- And after a hard week, Rae Hoffman told the SEO community it was time for them to see other people, while Tony Adam gave us a poignant tweet about ‘SEO rock stars’. Can we just clear something up right now. If you’re in SEO, you are NOT a rock star. You’re a geek. Embrace it.
And that’s it! What’d I miss? Who should I be following? Help a girl out.

hee hee… it has been madness now… nearly a dozen avatars in – we’re spreadying the tidings of joy!! Almost wish I’d collected donations to give to gifts for the needy or something… New holiday tradition? Anyhoo… all good fun.
Happy Holidays to all the Ninjas (from a Shaolin SEO)….
Liking the avatar Lisa. Happy Ninja day!
Great round-up, Lisa! I think it’s actually “Pownce”, which just confirms that no one paid any attention to it.
On the other hand, Pounce (the delicious cat treats) are actually useful
Excellent round up, I would add only that God is on Facebook (I’ve twitted it) http://tinyurl.com/67w38v
Lori: Heh, good catch. See, that’s what I get for trying to spell words correctly. All goes back to yesterday’s spelling and grammar post.
Well, nobody’s perfect
You have cats, right? So naturally Pounce would be the first thing on your mind
