Good afternoon, Friends.

It’s Friday. That means lots of things for us today. It means that a big snowstorm is on its way, that the We Build Pages holiday party is taking place in a few hours, and that the Writers will have Ted’s Fish Fry for lunch. Yum!

For the blog, Friday means it’s time to talk about Twitter. Let’s do that.

• Tamar Weinberg pointed us over to Small Business Trends where Anita Campbell brought 12 Internet experts together to share their advice on taking your business to the next level. A very awesome read.
• Angel Djambazov got everyone’s attention twittering that Best Buy had dropped affiliate commission rates to .25 percent. Soon after, all hell broke loose.
• Meg Thompson asked if SEO was a men’s club and I had to literally duct tape myself to a wall in order to remain off my soapbox. The simple answer is No, it’s not. Unless you make it one. And if you do, I will come after you with a shoe.
• David Brown helped me understand why I lost 50 Twitter followers overnight. Surprisingly, it was because of something Twitter did and not because I keep tweeting about my cats and my crush on Michael Streko.
• Speaking of the sk8er boi, David Snyder retweeted Streko’s Top 20 People of 2008 Who Didn’t Suck. I am proud to be the 8th least suckiest person in SEO.
• There are lots of lists going around, but Brent Csutoras points us to one actually worth reading: The Top 10 Viral Comedy Videos of 2008.
• Lindsay Olsen asked if you were scaring recruiters away. I think we all know that, yes, yes I am. And I have no plans to change my Twitter habits so don’t even ask.
• Shoemoney dropped the news that the Shoemoney Playbook should be in print in February. Congrats, Jeremy!

And then, of course, there were some Twitter finds that made me giggle:

• Michael Gray used the world umlat in casual conversation. Shortly after, the world imploded. You only think you’re still alive.
• If you have a bum Secret Santa, you may enjoy these sage words by Lauren Perdue. Amen, Lauren!
• Michacel Dorausch bravely talked about his battle with BD. Hang in there, Michael, we’re all here for you.
• Matt Cutts passive aggressively told  SEOs that he’s tired of their bickering and that they can graduate now.
• Thanks to Margo for sharing the world’s largest gummi bears (they’re bigger than a football!). Because, you know, I’m not eternally hungry all on my own. And I definitely now have the urge to shove a ginormous football-sized gummi bear into my mouth RIGHT NOW. [gnaws on QualityGal's arm]
• The new voice of Bruce Clay, Virginia Nussey, retweeted an article about The 5 Stages of Twitter Acceptance.
• The always zen Gwen Bell gave us 5 Reminders to Keep You Balanced This Holiday Season.
• And I’m still trying to figure out if Burger King issuing a Cease and Desist via Twitter should go in the “news” part of this recap or the “humor” part.  Decide amongst yourselves. I’m gonna go stare at the snow.
