Hey, Friends. I have no witty banter to share with you this afternoon. I did not break any bones this week (er, yet), it’s not snowing in historic Troy, NY, and I’m in a food coma. Friday Fail.
The biggest news on Twitter this week was the Twitter Time Warp that occurred when Twitter thought it would be fun to hold updates for an hour before actually showing them on the site. It was like a Twitter Wayback Machine, rendering the site as useful as having a conversation with my mother.
Because of the Twitter Time Warp that occurred, finding interesting nuggets in the noise was even more of a process than it normally is. Here’s a collection of the stuff that got my attention. Again, I’d love it if you’d share your own finds in the comments.
- Kim Krause-Berg shared an interview she did with Webcology host Jim Hedger where they talked about usability (of course), ethics, online trolls and lots of other great stuff. Kim is awesome and, if I have my way, will some day formally adopt me.
- Jill Whalen retweeted Steven Rubel’s Twitter Friends find. Twitter Friends is a neat little tool that tells you, among other things, who you reply to most often. Naturally, Jill Whalen responds to me more than anyone else. I am sure that it’s because I am just that important and not because I tweet twice as much as anyone else she’s following. Yeah. I’m sure that’s it.
- Vanessa Fox was mentioned by CNN for having the chutzpah to leave a corporate cocoon in order to blossom. Vanessa is probably the person I most want to grow up to be like. I have a shrine to her in my closet. Um, not a crazy one, of course. A normal shrine. It’s one picture, really. What?
- Speaking of Vanessa, she provided us with a nice illustration of a 302 vs. 301 and what not to do in social media. Poor Yelp. I like Vanessa.
- Dan Zarella launched TweetBacks, which are like trackbacks for your blog. Absolutely. Love. It.
- Copyblogger asked Are You a Fancy Nancy Writer and caused Graywolf to start picking on me again. Naturally, we both think we’re right. Poor Graywolf. He’s so delusional.
- Loren Baker pimped out Julie Joyce’s article on How To Build Links When You’re NOT Online. It’s another great one from Julie.
- Brian Chappell let us know it was an obnoxious 18 year old who hacked Obama, Britney and other-people-with-one-name’s Twitter accounts.
- Dustin Woodard shared how Google Street View helped the police find a kidnapped child.
- Bruce Clay’s Scott Polk posted the party information for Affiliate Summit, which starts this weekend. If you’re going, please let me know. Lisa has no friends and will likely be in her hotel room watching ET and crying.
In the “get ready to giggle” department:
- Chiropractic let us know that one of his patients showed up in a We Build Pages T-shirt, which was surprising since I didn’t even know We Build Pages had T-shirts. Someone is holding out on me. [glares at Jim Boykin]
- Chris Hooley and John Heinl had a puppy-off to see who had the cuter pooch. Chris, you know I love you, but a Boxer puppy will always trump. Especially when it’s up against a Malti-Poo. I mean seriously. I know the dog’s fixed, but are you? [runs away really fast]
- Zane DeFazio (who will cry if more of you don’t follow him on Twitter) shared his own giggle. Immoral, indeed.
- Tony Adam reminded me why I left California. People, the ground is not supposed to move! That’s why it’s the ground.
- Jaybol found a mistake. On the Internet. [gasp!]
- And, of course, Loren Feldman continued to lose his mind. At this point, even small children can feel that something is wrong with the world. Come back to us, Loren. The light is safe.

Yes. When Twhirl repeatedly says “Message not sent”, do *NOT* believe it – and especially don’t press ‘Enter’ yet again – otherwise you’ll end up sending the same thing 20 or 30 times in a row, none of which actually showed up until the following day.
Phew! Only lost one follower from that cockup.
I’m glad “Overheard on Twitter” is on Friday and not on Saturday. Risk of too many drunken tweets.

For the record, I am not fixed but the contest was. Heinl cheated.
My puppy is way cuter, and I have a malti-poo because she was a Christmas present was for my 5 year old daughter who has dog allergies.
If I were to buy a dog for myself, it would probably have been a Saint Bernard, because they are known to carry little metal barrel / drums of hard liquor on their collars to “warm people up”
Oh wow that Boxer puppy FOR THE WIN! That other white dog almost looks like a toy lol.
