Paid Link Audits

Google has stated implicitly that paid links are against their guidelines.

If your website has a large paid link profile you may be at risk. If you have decided to follow Google's advice to "nofollow" paid links to your website you may be faced with a large problem depending on how many links you have.

We Build Pages can look at your link profile and help you determine which links will place you at risk and help you change your paid links by communicating with webmasters who have placed your paid links on their websites.

Webmasters - If you have received an email from us concerning links we have contacted you to help our clients have a cleaner link profile that is consistent with the Google webmaster guidelines.

Google's stance on paid links: Paid links should be machine readable, which means they should do one of the following things...

- redirect through url blocked by robots.txt

- redirect through url that does 302 Javascript

- rel=”nofollow” on individual links

- <meta name=”robots” content=”nofollow” /> on entire page

For webmasters who have paid links on their website typically the easiest "fix" is to add the "nofollow" attribute to the link.

To learn more from Google about this issue please see the following help article from Google.com...
